HURRAH….TO THE BEST DESIGN SCHOOL

June 2023 DUBAI – LCA aims to provide intensive training and experience to our fashion students who aim to gain heights in this magnificent industry. With this in mind, we were elated to participate and showcase our talents on the stage of ECO FASHION CARNIVAL 2023, organized and produced by Prabha Pradeep from BE UNIQUE INTERNATIONAL who had invited our students to be a part of their event in two categories, namely, the SUSTAINABLE DESIGN COMPETITION (an inter-college/ university event) and the MAIN DESIGNER COLLECTIONS (an individual designer event). It was an immensely proud moment for us at LCA to witness 8 of our students from our Professional Diploma and Advanced Diploma program who took part in the ECO Fashion Carnival in the above-mentioned categories.

The SUSTAINABLE DESIGN competition encouraged fresh ideas and designs using sustainable methods in construction, fabric choices, design variations, etc. in two categories namely; the textile and non-textile category. Our students from the Professional FD program, Hajar Baroudi, Nadia Zahir, Isha Sachdeva, and Ooha Mogili along with our Advanced FD students Jamaa El Abbassi and Mehek Abeera took part in the competition and presented two outfits each, one in the textile and the other in the non-textile category. They came up with beautiful designs using upcycling and recycling methods to demonstrate their creativity with regard to sustainability. Appropriate use of waste materials such as plastic, bubble wrap, jute, table covers, and plastic party strips was adequately used to bring life to non-textile versions of garments, and in the textile category students let their imaginations go wild with patchwork, applique techniques, deconstruction, and reconstruction methods to develop absolutely stunning pieces which wowed every single one of the audience. And with a heart beaming with pride, we are proud to say that our student Ms. Hajar Baroudi won the award for the “ BEST CREATIVE DESIGN” in this competition and Ms. Nadia Zahir won the award for the “ BEST EMERGING DESIGNER” in the Sustainable Design Competition at the ECO FASHION CARNIVAL AND GLOBAL ICON OF DUBAI AWARDS 2023.

Two students participated in the DESIGNER COLLECTION category as well, Ms. Ayesha Saif Al Falasi from Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design and Ms. Fatma Abdullah Alotaibi from Professional Diploma in Fashion Design wherein they presented a collection of their labels. Ayesha recently launched a brand of her own under her own name “AA- Ayesha AlFalasi” and used this platform to showcase her work. Fatma, who already owns a Korean fashion brand in Kuwait “Ceilo”, used this platform to mark an entry into the world of fashion in UAE for herself. Both of them were awarded Designer Appreciation awards for their beautiful collections at the ECO FASHION CARNIVAL AND GLOBAL ICON OF DUBAI AWARDS 2023.

But the most treasured moment in the entire event was when the London College of Arts received the award for “THE BEST DESIGN SCHOOL” for our work, talents, and creativity showcased. The award was presented to Ms. Chitra, Fashion Design Faculty of LCA, and all our students, on the stage of ECO FASHION CARNIVAL AND GLOBAL ICON OF DUBAI AWARDS 2023 by Ms. Prabha Pradeep, Founder of BEUNIQUE International. Three cheers to the entire team of LCA, all the hard work and efforts have paid off brilliantly, and may we continue to have more success in the future
