LCA student awes audience with her sustainable design

Fashion Revolution Week 2019 marks the 6th anniversary of the infamous Rana Plaza collapse and the beginning of a global movement that has had a momentous impact on how producers, consumers and stakeholders in fashion perceive and address the issue of sustainability.
Since its inception, Fashion Revolution has campaigned globally for a more sustainable fashion industry, raising awareness of its most pressing environmental and social issues, and calling for and achieving systemic reforms that brought about positive change that continue to tackle poverty, human rights violations, low wages, discrimination, environmental pollution, waste and lack of transparency.
Last year the commitment to sustainability was seen within the UAE’s Fashion Revolution Week and pioneering sustainability initiatives : seminars, workshops, pop ups and movie screenings all culminated with the region’s first ever sustainable fashion runway competition.Last year we saw a large scale collaboration between many of Dubai’s key fashion industry players, including Chalhoub Group, British Council, DIDI, Dolce & Gabbana, Swarovski and more
