The program in Fashion Design is specifically designed to develop a breadth of understanding of the fashion industry and to provide a broad foundation for students from which they can determine which branch of the industry their personal talents are most suited to. LCA has offered the program for several batches now and has produced several award winning students.
The Advance Diploma in Fashion Design is designed to accelerate the student’s basic growth in fashion. It is a perfect blend of subjects like illustration, draping, styling and fashion forecast management which require detailed focus for further expansion in one’s academic background.
This course gives loads of practical experiences along with an international field visit and a professional photo shoot for student’s designs which lead to further exposure. Students can focus on their interests of designing in this course which includes highlights in menswear and kids wear. This course also has a module dedicated to fashion draping and fashion styling to further develop one’s ability.
This is a very intense but part time programme which opens doors to opportunities like fashion designers, stylists, textile developers, illustrators as well as fashion buyers. This course has been designed to suit the lifestyle of a working professional and offers learning though detailed projects, innovative assignments and practical knowledge.

Teaching Methodology
Emphasis is placed on hands on training and practice. The sessions are 70% hands on practical assessments and 30% spread on lectures and research practice.
Entry Requirements:
Admission into the Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design program is open to students of all nationalities with respect to the submission of the following requirements:
- Completion of the Professional Diploma in Fashion Design
- Complete Application form with 3 color passport – photographs
- Clear passport copy or other photo identity copy
- Students must have a good command of spoken English and own a laptop
Units of Study
I Creative Fashion Illustration
Fashion design involves illustration in every sector of designing and it requires effective visual presentation of relevant swatches and technical details for mass production. Students also need to work quickly in the industry to meet the time lines of production. This module has been carefully designed so that students learn designing from the construction point of view and hence technical sketches, flat sketches and preparation of cost sheets is taught here in this unit. Students also learn sprint illustrations and usage of different mediums of coloring along with presentation skills, Men’s wear designing and kids wear illustration.
2 Portfolio Development
As appearance is the selling point in any creative industry this unit helps students to design and organize their portfolios for effective presentation which eventually helps them achieve their dream jobs at any point in life. This section of teaching also helps them to understand their strengths and polishing the needful with innovative presentations.
3 Fashion Styling and Show Management
Every fashion designer must know how to style their collections along with various accessories and jewelry, these days’ destination and theme based photo shoots have surrounded the markets. Creative concepts and look books along with social media have become a must for any size of fashion organization. This unit helps students to participate and have a photo shoot of their own which is a hands on experience required for this industry we also focus on understanding fashion show management with innovative teaching methods and live field visits. This area of learning opens many new career opportunities for young designers like styling, wardrobe designing, capsule wardrobe planning, merchandising, and visual display and fashion management
4 Pattern Making and Garment Construction
This unit focuses on draping for women using dress form and pinnable dummies along with men’s wear and kids wear pattern making and garment construction, the students are free to choose their style of designing and would be constructing 6 to 8 full stitched garments which will be used in their photo shoots and portfolios so that they learn the actual experience of designing to selling.
