Eco Fashion Carnival 2024: Capital-LCA Fashionistas steal the show
As a institution of design, LCA has excelled in fostering in our students a lifelong love of design, as well as creativity and passion. At the beginning of the year, we proudly showcased our incredibly gifted fashion designers with the BRAGxLCA Fashion Event 2024, followed by our BRAGxLCA Interior Design contest which also offered an immense learning experience for our budding interior designers.
In the month of May 2024, LCA proudly presented our fashion design students at the Eco Fashion Show by Beunique International, conceptualized and organized by fashionpreneur Ms. Prabha Pradeep.
Our fashion students, presented their collections in two categories: a) the Designer Presentation and b) Sustainable Graffiti Competition, under the guidance of our mentor Ms. Chitra Nair.
We are proud to announce that out of 14 participants at the Sustainable Graffiti competition, our student Ms. BASMA SABRY bagged the first runner up at the competition. Ms. Basma crafted beautiful outfits using left over old garden curtains where she used her creative skills to paint on the message of planting trees, a great initiative taken by the Dubai Government. Congratulations to Basma on her spectacular win and all the hard work that has at last seen the fruits of all the labor.
The second category was the designer category where 5 of our students participated and launched their collections on the ramp. The designers who took part in this category are, Ms. Ooha Mogili (Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design), Ms. Karisma Karthik (Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design), Ms. Saranda Gashi Shala (Professional Diploma in Fashion Design), Ms. Femina Vyas (Professional Diploma in Fashion Design) and Ms. Basma Sabry (Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design). Each and every designer presented a different niche of their work. When Ooha focused on Sustainability as a core concept by using linen fabrics embellished with natural(leaf and flower) pounding techniques to create her prints and patterns, we have Karisma on the other hand, who was all about elegance and glitz. She designed outfits for a group of bridesmaids that would be lovely choices for dressing up for any evening occasion.
Saranda took everyone by surprise when she unveiled a line of 15 exquisitely created ensembles, each one infused with a hint of culture, art, and beauty, and all inspired by the renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The audience saw our 19-year-old designer Femina showcase her collection, which was made with gorgeous fabrics and superb craftsmanship, as she presented a notion of gentle glamor on the ramp. Our final designer, Basma, not only made her pastel color scheme pleasant to the eyes, but it was also delightful to see the models sporting a line of incredibly cozy lounge wear pieces that she had just introduced under her own brand. Seeing the audience marvel at our designers and their creations was delightful, and for our design department as well as the rest of us at LCA, it was a gratifying moment to witness all of our designers receiving recognition from VIP guests at the end of the event.
